- RONALD RODRIGUES

Fans of the famous American duo DJ (Disc Jockey) The Chainsmokers grooved to the tunes of the electronic music at the Ultra Worldwide Music Festival on Thursday at the Malaxmi Race Course. The Chainsmokers filled the atmosphere with two hours of non-stop dancing for around 10,000 music maniacs.

The opening act with the famous song Inside Out by the Grammy Award winning music artistes kickstarted the feel of dancing. The duo then performed their famous creations Closer, Don't Let Me Down, Roses and All We Know. The mashup of Electronic Dance Music (EDM) with hip-hop and pop music with a slight interference of indie music kept the entire audience on their toes.

The Chainsmokers comprising Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall expressed their love for Mumbai. Taggart said, "It's a crazy audience in Mumbai. It's energetic and fun." Though a packed venue with limited space to move the audience danced with their hands up in the air singing aloud the lyrics of the famous single Closer and Don't Let Me Down.

The rising heat made it difficult for the attendees to breathe. Rashmi Sinha, a working youth said, "This is the first time we have got a chance to witness the Chainsmokers live. Their songs have become famous within a short span of time especially among the youth." While Tushar Jain, a student said, "The crowd was too much but the music, lights and the whole EDM feel kept us going."

The Chainsmokers also experimented and recreated the famous We Will Rock You in the EDM style. Lights and visuals enhanced the entire ambience of the concert. The hosts of the Ultra Worldwide Music Festival, were Percept Live which is the company that hosts the famous Sunburn music festival along with Ultra Worldwide.

Along with the Chainsmokers few other Indie music artistes and DJs performed too. The Chainsmokers will perform on September 8 at India Exposition Mart at Greater Noida, New Delhi, as part of the Road to ULTRA India music festival.
