Suparn’s fan moment with Rekha

Filmmaker Suparn Verma, who recently showcased his latest web series, Yo Ke Hua Bro at a special screening, says life has come a full circle for him, as it was attended by the legendary actress Rekha with whom he has worked in the movie, Aastha (1997).

“A lot of my friends from the industry who know me since years now attended the screening to wish me luck. But Rekha ji coming for the screening was a rare thing. Post the screening, she congratula­ted me for the series and wished me luck,” says Suparn.

Not many know that Suparn has shared the screen space with the yesteryear diva in her movie, Aastha, also starring the late actor Om Puri and Navin Nischol. Much to his surprise, Suparn was extremely delighted to meet and greet the veteran actress at the screening of his web series.

Suparn recollects, “I played one of the college students in Aastha and it was a small role. I was in my final year graduation when the movie released. After all these years, meeting Rekha ji at the screening of my web series was a surreal experience. She is so gracious and admirable.”

Directed by Suparn, Yo Ke Hua Bro is a digital series in the comic thriller genre, starring Shamita Shetty and Aparshakti Khurrana among others.In his prolific cinematic journey, Suparn has written twelve feature films and directed four, genres varying from horror, thriller, comedy and drama including the Nawazuddin Siddiqui-Bipasha Basu starrer Aatma, X - Past is Present (Rajat Kapoor), and his writing credits include films like Qayamat (Ajay Devgn), Zameen (Ajay Devgn, Abhishek Bachchan, Bipasha Basu), Karam (John Abraham, Priyanka Chopra) and several others.
