Bishar Parikh shines with superb hat-trick

Striker Bishar Parikh was in great striking form and notched up a superb hattrick to power St. Lawrence, Kandivali to an easy 3-0 win against Shrimaa School, Thane in a quarter-final match of The BengaI Club organized Inter-Schools (Boys - under 16) Football Tournament and played at their ground, Shivaji Park on Saturday. After a barren first half, Bishar showed his scoring prowess and in a span of seven minutes scored the three goals, with the first strike in the 40th minute, to secure the win for the Kandivali lads.

In another match, Atharva Rewal’s double strikes were the highlight of St. Paul’s, Dadar 3-0 victory over S.M. Shetty Internatio­nal School, Powai. Cornelius Rodrigues netted the opening goal in the 20th minute before Atharva scored two quick goals in the 30th and 33rd minutes to complete the winning tally.

Sacred Heart, Santacruz also enjoyed a good outing as they blanked Seventh Day Evangelist, Jacob Circle 4-0 to advance to the semi-finals. For Sacred Heart the goals came through their strikers Utkarsh Bagoria, Kane Simoes and Prashant Mirkar and from an own goal scored by Faisal Khan.

In the fourth match, Utpal Sanghvi, Juhu got the better of Anjuman Islam by a comfortabl­e 2-0 margin. Rohit Shah and Janak Kularia were bang on target with a goal each for the winning school.

Results - quarter-finals: Sacred Heart, SC 4 (Utkarsh Bagoria, Kane Simoes, Prashant Mirkar, Faisal Khan-OG) beat Seventh Day Evangelist, Jacob Circle 1 (Maaz Ansari).

St. Paul’s, Dadar 3 (Atharva Rewal 2, Cornelius Rodrigues,) beat S.M. Shetty Internatio­nal School, Powai 0.

Utpal Sanghvi, Juhu 2 (Rohit Shah, Janak Kularia) beat Anjuman Islam, CST 0.

St. Lawrence, Kandivali 3 (Bishar Parikh 3) beat Shrimaa School, Thane 0.
