Rly passengers can now rate their meals on tablet

- STAFF REPORTER

Long distance railway passengers will now be able to register food related complaints on tablets provided by the Indian railways. These tablets will be provided by the Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC) to the passengers travelling on premium trains like Shatabdi express, Duroto express and Rajdhani express trains.

These tablets will be provided by the pantry car staffers to the passengers after they finish serving food to them. “The pantry car staffers will be on rounds and taking feedback from random passengers. There are at least 100 tablets with us at present. We will start taking feedback from every passenger once we receive more number of tablets,” said Pinakin Morawala, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of IRCTC.

Earlier, passengers were not able to register specific complaints. “The passengers do not register specific food related complaints in the complaint book kept in pantry car. Filing complaints on a tablet will help passengers register specific complaints related to taste and colour of the food,” added Morawala.

The tablet will consist of a format related to food ratings. The passengers will have to provide specifications related to food complaint once they they rate the food less than three on a scale of 1-5. This new facility will begin on all premium trains from next week.

‘‘This rating system will help the pantry car staffers improve the food quality served in these premium trains,” added an official.

Once the passenger provides the feedback on the tablet, it will be automatically uploaded on the server for quick redressal. “The feedback provided by the passenger will not be manipulated in any case as it would be uploaded on the server immediately once the passengers feeds the complaint,” added the official.
