- DIWAKAR SHARMA

The CEO of Crossbones media Rishi Shah was questioned at Bandra police station till late Tuesday night in connection with the suicide of pianist Karan Joseph after Mumbai Police Commissioner asked investigators to probe the unnatural death case with all possible three angles including suicide, its abetment or murder.

The Bandra police has registered abetment to suicide case.

“I am not scared because I have not done anything wrong,” said Shah minutes before going for questioning.

The development has come just a day after Karan’s father Thomas Joseph issued a statement in Bengaluru saying: “To our utter shock and dismay, false reports were published that Karan had committed suicide due to depression.”

Thomas further alleged that the ‘case was prejudiced even before the investigation commenced’.

Thomas has also claimed, “In my capacity as a doctor and his father, I have given a statement to the police station stating that neither was Karan suffering from depression nor was he on treatment or medication of any kind. He has never been admitted as an inpatient nor taken treatment as an outpatient for any kind of depression,” the father said.

Senior inspector Pandit Thakare said that till now the statements of 18 persons have been recorded.

The police have sent mobile phones of Karan, his friend Rishi and others to Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), Kalina. The investigators are waiting for the report.

Thomas has alleged that Karan’s laptop has still not been recovered by the police.

“Karan’s personal belongings were cleared out of this apartment in the presence of inspector Prabhale. Some of his belongings were not found in the rented apartment. Among other things, Karan’s laptop has still not been recovered,” reads the statement.

However, the police said that there was no laptop at Karan’s rented flat in Bandra west.
