Cong, Sena, NCP plan to fight Rane together

If all goes well, according to senior leader of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Ajit Pawar, the party, which is in talks with the Congress and Shiv Sena for a possible tieup, they would field their candidate against Narayan Rane in the upcoming byelections. The message is clear, defeat him and keep Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) away. Pawar said that if the presidents of these three political parties unanimously agree on one candidate the fact is, Rane will more chances of defeat in the Legislative Council polls.

Rane recently announced his own political outfit, Maharashtra Swabhimani Paksh (MSP) after resigning from Congress. Rane sought two days’ time from Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to extend support to the BJP-led government.

Rane tendered his resignation of the member of state Legislative Council (MLC) in the last week of September. The by-election for this post will be held in a month. Pawar said he first thought of this alliance when there were talks of Rane breaking legislators from these three parties. “When we heard reports of Rane likely to break few legislators from our parties, I had suggested that Congress, and Shiv Sena join hands with NCP to field one candidate against all those who will resign. I am confident our candidates can defeat them, because there will be no division of votes.”

Rane will need the help of BJP, however since he has launched an attack on Sena, Uddhav too will side them. “There is no constituency where either Congress, NCP or Sena cannot defeat BJP,” said Pawar.
