All MU results declared is a false claim, say students

- RONALD RODRIGUES

Even after two weeks that the Mumbai University (MU) declared that all results have been declared, students are still running from pillar to post around the university campus to get their clear results.

Students stated that ‘All MU results are declared is a misleading claim’ as a majority of them are not sure if their results are held in reserve or if their answer scripts are misplaced or unchecked.

Students are constantly approaching the university campus because there has been no specific medium of communication to them. Students are not aware about misplaced papers, pending evaluation or average marks. Some of the students are being assured that their results will be announced in few days.

The students claimed that everything they know is through the media. Priya More, a student said, “Not all of us read newspapers daily. Secondly, the university officials are not telling us anything clearly when we question them. Some of them tell us that our answer papers are unchecked but they are not confirming whether our papers are misplaced.”

The university recently announced that 1,600 students will be awarded average marks as their answer scripts have been misplaced. In addition, there are a large number of reevaluation cases which have been filed.

A senior official of the university said, “The revaluation cases are majorly of the Commerce course as it is the largest course with over one lakh students. Also, the results of this course were declared last.”

Students filed these reevaluation cases through their respective colleges.

Several students have not received their marksheets of last year.

Vivek Sheth, a student said, “Our entire batch has not received our results though we cleared our examinations two years ago. We were earlier informed that there are printing errors in our marksheets but we have not received any update on this yet.”
