The rift continues...

The dispute between filmmaker Karan Johar and actor Ajay Devgn, doesn’t seem to end anytime soon. The filmmaker, yesterday, officially announced his collaboration with actor Akshay Kumar for the film Kesari, which will be based on the battle of Saragarhi. Previously, it was Salman Khan who was said to be collaborating on this film. But now, it’s just Akshay, who apart from playing the main lead will also be co-producing the film with Karan. The filmmaker took to social media to make the announcement. “Extremely excited to see this exceptional and brave story unfold!!! @akshaykumar, ”he posted. The film will be releasing on Holi in 2019.

Even Akshay Kumar tweeted about his new collaboration. “A film I’m extremely excited and about personally and emotionally,” he tweeted. There were rumours of Parineeti Chopra playing the lead, but that looks unlikely as Karan has not mentioned her name in his announcement.

And Karan isn’t the only one making a movie on the battle of Saragarhi. It is said, Karan’s BFF’s (Kajol) husband, Ajay Devgn will be producing and acting in a film based on the same subject. Although, some reports suggest that Ajay’s film is still in preproduction stage and will release only after Karan’s film.

Moreover, earlier this year, Randeep Hooda released his look from his movie Battle Of

Saragarhi, which will be directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, who has written the scripts of films like Damini – Lightning, Khakee, Andaz Apna Apna and Halla Bol. It is not uncommon for Bollywood to make various film on the same topic, but this time there will be three films that will be made on the battle of Saragarhi.

The battle of Saragarhi was fought on September 12, 1897. The Sikh military personnel who were 21 in number fought with 10,000 Afghan Orakzai tribesman and they chose to die than surrender.
