NCP: Mopalwar spent Rs300cr on BJP in Nanded byelection

In a bold statement, Nawab Malik, spokesperson of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), claimed that tainted bureaucrat Radheshyam Mopalwar poured Rs 300 crore in Nanded civic poll in favour of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in anticipation, BJP will help him to free from charges against him. Mopalwar was divested from the post of managing Director of Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) over audio clip in which he was purportedly heard fixing a deal of plot.

While addressing the media and NCP office, Malik claimed that the state government has appointed Pravin Padval, an officer from Indian Police Service (IPS) as a member of Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe Mopalwar to give Mopalwar clean chit.

Padval is son in law of Shyam Sunder Shinde, retired bureaucrat who was candidate of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2014 assembly poll from Nanded constituency. On the other hand, Shinde is brother in law of Pratap Chikhalikar, Shiv Sena legislator who was election in-charge of BJP. Chikhalikar represents Loha constituency in Nanded district.

Malik said, “Mopalwar hails from Nanded and hence, he made settlement with Shinde and Chikhalikar and the state too appointed IPS Padval to ensure Mopalwar will be free from all allegations against him.” “The dealing was of Rs 300 crore and Mopalwar poured it in Nanded civic poll for the BJP,” Malik claimed. However, according to Government resolution dated September 25, 2017, the state government has replaced Padwal by Raosaheb Dattatray Shinde, additional police commissioner (Safety and Security).

Ashok Chavan, president of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress committee, without naming Shinde and Mopalwar also alleged that former bureaucrat spent huge money in horse trading in Nanded civic poll.
