Anxious BJP ropes in Adityanath to campaign for Gujarat elections

After the warm reception to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in Saurashtra and central Gujarat and concerned at the lukewarm response to the ruling party's ''Gaurav Yatra'' in the state, the BJP inducted Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath into its election campaign on Friday with the priestly politician reiterating his commitment to a Ram temple in Ayodhya. Addressing a series of political rallies in South Gujarat in which he lunged into the Congress and its vice-president Rahul Gandhi, he termed the principal opposition in the country a symbol of devastation and a 'corruption' party. Gandhi, who had just completed a three day tour of central Gujarat, was the tar- get of the UP chief minister's ire for it's allegations against the ruling party, its president and the prime minister. “The Congress is not supporters of development, but of devastation. That is why when terrorist like Ishrat Jahan was killed by security forces in Gujarat then Rahul Gandhi came to support her,” said Adityanath,” Adityanath said. "Their development is just their own, of their family and their close grouping of middlemen. A person who has not been able to lay even the foundation stone of a collectorate in his constituency despite being in power for 14 years, how do you expect him to develop Gujarat”, the UP chief minister questioned. While Prime Minister Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah were touring the flood affected areas of Gujarat the Gandhi had chosen to go over to Italy. Adityanath expressed confidence that Rahul Gandhi's recent visit to temples would not yield results as he is not even aware of the difference between the postures of puja and namaz and is only trying to mislead the people. The UP chief minister said that he would ensure that there is no Congress representative to Parliament from UP after the 2019 elections nor would there be any representative in the UP Assembly from it.
