Customs march to easy win over SAI

Mumbai Customs scored a comfortabl­e 4-2 win against Sports Authority of India in a Super Division match of the MHAL League 20172018, at the MHAL-Mahindra Stadium, Churchgate on Friday evening.

The experience­d Customs outfit had more of ball possession and created the better chances to wrest the advantage. The excisemen scored through a penalty corner conversion by P.L. Thimmanna in the 7th minute before SAI captain Gurbinder Singh scored the equaliser in the 21st minute. Later, Hasan Basha scored Customs second in the 23rd minute and skipper Jayesh Jadhav tapped home from close the third goal in the 33rd minute to give Customs a 3-1 cushion at the end of the first half.

In second period, Customs continued to call the shots and scored the fourth goal through Mayur Patil in the 50th minute. SAI fighting gamely managed to cut the lead with a late goal scored by Dilip Pal in the final minute.

Customs defender Satish J. won the ‘Man of the Match’ award and he received a cash award of Rs 1,000 each.

On Saturday, Union Bank of India take on Central Railway at 2.30pm and later in the evening Mumbai Customs play against Mumbai Port Trust at 4.15pm. Results: Mumbai Customs (P.L.
