Shari Academy, A Retrospective
WHAT: Girish Mistry’s Shari Academy of Professional Photography & Digital Imaging; the first professional photography school in India celebrates their Silver Jubilee by exhibiting the images of over 200 Mastercraftsman alumni. “Shari Academy, A Retrospective” will showcase the work of students from 1992 to 2017 (films to digital), with genres covering from Fine Art, Portraits, Fashion, Still Life, etc. It will also showcase the timeline of the founder, Girish Mistry, who founded this academy in 1992 after an illness which left him physical challenged. Girish Mistry steered the Shari Academy through turbulent times on his wheelchair, to the most successful professional photography school in India. “Photographers have expressed their inner and outer muse using their creative eye, technique, manipulation and innovation,” states Girish Mistry. The academy has trained acclaimed photographers like Vikram Bawa, Jignesh Jhaveri, Himanshu Seth, Leena Kejriwal, Saket Dhongade, Nandini Mehta Naik, Vivek Sequeria, Riddhi Parekh, Bharat Bhirangi, Mudita Aeron, Appurva Shah, Vinit Bhatt and many more.
