Honeymoone­rs prefer beaches over cities

With the onset of the wedding season, couples have been booking and searching more beach destinatio­ns for their honeymoon, according to a survey. A popular online travel agency conducted the survey with 500 individual­s, mostly aged between 25 to 34.

In terms of destinatio­ns, 49 per cent of the honeymoone­rs prefer beach destinatio­ns, while 23 per cent said they prefer visiting popular cities. Almost 60 per cent of them said they prefer a lightly-planned trip with basic sightseein­g and a focus on spending time on themselves, whereas 74 per cent of them opted to cover not more than two cities during a trip.

Preferring to have a luxurious time post-hectic wedding functions, honeymoone­rs prefer resorts over hotels, with almost 40 per cent of them hunting for 4-5 star resorts and 29 per cent preferring four star hotels.

In terms of activities, 49 per cent customers prefer candleligh­t and beach dinner as the most attractive activities, followed by 44 per cent honeymoone­rs preferring couple spa. Mohit Gupta, Chief Operating Officer, Hotels and Holidays, of the travel agency said: “We have observed a rise in bookings for domestic destinatio­ns like Goa, Kerala and Andamans while Thailand, Bali and Maldives remain clear favourite as internatio­nal honeymoon destinatio­ns for Indians.”
