Saqib Rizvi Memorial Inter-College cricket tournament from Friday

A total of 42 College teams will be participat­ing in the 8th Saqib Rizvi Memorial Inter-Collegiate Rotating Trophy Cricket Tournament, organised by the Junior College’s Sports Associatio­n of Mumbai and sponsored by the Rizvi Education Society and scheduled to commence on Friday, December 15, 2017.

The event has the support of Dr. Akhtar Hasan Rizvi, President, Rizvi Education Society and Adv. Rubina Akhtar Hasan Rizvi, Director, Rizvi Education Society.

“Rizvi Education Society and Rizvi group of school and college has always encouraged and supported sports and sportspers­ons.

The tournament is being conducted annually to keep alive the memory of Late Saqib Rizvi, who was also an ardent sports enthsiast.

Through this tournament we want to continue remebering his achievemen­ts and contributi­ons towards the Rizvi institutio­ns and the sportspers­ons,” Adv. Rubina mentioned.

The tournament, to be conducted under the auspices of the Mumbai Cricket Associatio­n, will be inaugurate­d on Friday, December 15 at the Dadkar Maidan, Matunga at 9.00 am followed by the first round matches. Defending champions Rizvi College and last year's runners-up R.A. Podar College have been given first round byes.

The tournament will be played on a direct knockout format and all the matches will be played according to the model rules of MCA (Mumbai Cricket Associatio­n) relating to the conduct of the Cricket Tournament for Boys.

The initial rounds up to the quarter-finals will be an 45-overs a side match played over one day. The semi-finals and finals will be a two-day match.
