MMRDA invests Rs 62k crore in Metro projects
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has planned to invest a total amount of approximately Rs 62,000 crore exclusively for the Metro project work.
The infrastructure body has invested this for constructing at least a 157-kilometre-long Metro network for the city.
The infrastructure body has undertaken two Metro corridors which include Andheri (East) to Dahisar (East) Metro-7 corridor consisting of 18.5 kilometer long and other from Dahisar (West) to DN Nagar Metro2A corridor consisting of 16.5 kilometer long.
MMRDA has invested approximately a total cost of Rs 12,000 crore for these two project work.
In 2018, the construction of at least three Metro corridors has been initiated this year which include DN Nagar to Mandale Metro-2B, Wadala-Ghatkopar-ThaneKasarvadavali Metro-4 and Swami Samarth NagarVikhroli Metro six.
The Metro-2B corridor consists of at least 22 stations and is worth Rs 10,986 crore, Metro-4 corridor project work is estimated at Rs 14,549 and the 14.5 kilometer long Metro-6 corridor is worth Rs.5,566 crore.
The infrastructure body has envisaged a total number of four Metro projects till the year 2021.
At least 40 lakh commuters will benefit from these four metro project work. These metro projects would offer at least 160 Metro stations in the city and the metropolitan region.
“The construction of these metro corridors would encourage Mumbaikars to take public transport and avoid usage of fuel at the cost of environment,” said U.P.S. Madan, MMRDA Commissioner.
