MHADA PUTS UP 110 SHOPS FOR SALE VIA LOTTERY

The Maharashtr­a Housing and Area Developmen­t Authority (MHADA) has planned to auction at least 110 shop establishm­ents etendering process. These shops which are located on the western suburbs between the areas of Malad and Goregaon will be sold by MHADA through a lottery system.

The housing body is yet to finalise the rate at which these shops would be sold through a lottery system. The MHADA officials revealed of delay in acquiring the valid property documents which led to further delay in the sale of these shops.

“The process of selling shop establishm­ents is not similar to the sale of houses. The parties interested for acquiring these shops will have to bid for the tendering process which is likely to begin by February next year,” said a MHADA official.

The housing body would set a base price for each shop establishm­ents and the bids which would be higher than the base price of the highest amount filed by the applicant.

“We are in the process of setting a base price of each shop which would be based on the location of these shops. The process will be completed by January ahead of tendering process,” said a MHADA official.

The idea behind building shops at the ground level of MHADA building is to have a full-fledged market place for the MHADA residents.

Such shops are located at Bimbisar Nagar in Goregoan where there is a two storey commercial complex comprising of 17 shops establishm­ents. Shops are reserved by bank ATM, gymnasium and community halls.

There is another shop at Malwani in Malad where three commercial complexes comprising of 59 shops is in ready position.

Previously, MHADA had auctioned at least 168 commercial shops in 2010. The shops are located in areas such as Pratiksha Nagar at Sion, Sahakar Nagar at Chembur, Shastri Nagar at Goregaon, Ashokvan at Dahisar and Malvani at Malad.
