Decade after selling flats in illegal bldg, builder held

BHAYANDAR: A decade after he constructed a building in Bhayandar on the virtue of fake documents, the 52-yearold builder was arrested and booked for cheating and forgery by the Navghar police on Saturday. Identified as Vijay Anant Patil, the accused had floated Sai Constructions in 2006. Patil constructed and sold flats in Hausa Apartments, a double winged 4-storyed building in Goddev village. Residents were unaware that their 10-year-old building was illegal till they were served with eviction notices by the MBMC in March-2017. Interestingly, most of the occupants have obtained bank loans and are regularly paying their installments.
