The Cyber Cell of Mumbai crime branch has been roped in to conduct parallel investigation into Kamala Mills fire tragedy which claimed 14 lives besides leaving several injured on Friday.

The three-member owners of 1Above pub – Kripesh Sanghavi, Jigar Sanghavi and Abhijeet Mankar – have been on the run after the incident. They are the partners in Sigrid Ospitalita and Entertainment Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) under which the rooftop resto-bar is registered.

Sources said the trio is also the directors of different companies registered in Mumbai. The investigators are scanning the documents, available at Registrar of Mumbai, to get a probable lead to track down the absconding accused.

A senior officer from Mumbai police told the Free Press Journal, “The immediate issuance of Look Out Circular (LOC) for all the three accused helped us to restrict them to fly out of India. The team of Cyber Cell at Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) is keeping hawk eyes on the transactions of debit as well as credit cards of all the three accused. Their locations will be traced if they use plastic money. Also, their email addresses – personal and corporate electronic mail addresses – are under scanner. Our teams have been on the toe to track them down soon. Several teams have been formed and despatched to different states to search for them.”

Five days have passed but the trio have yet not fallen in the police net.

Till now the police have recorded the statements of 40 people including the survivors, relatives of 14 deceased, staff members of 1Above pub and other eye witnesses for better understanding of the incident.

The CCTV footages of adjoining buildings are also being scanned.
