MHADA SLAPS NOTICE TO BORIVALI SCHOOL FOR STOPPING STATE BOARD ADMISSIONS

Swami Vivekananda International School in Borivali, which was slammed a notice by MHADA last week for discontinuing admissions of state board, is yet to respond.

The notice was sent to the school after it allegedly flouted rules and norms of operations.

The school plot is owned by Maharashtra Housing Area and Development Authority (MHADA). The body had given the accommodation to school on the condition of housing Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) curriculum.

“The body will need a plausible reason as to why should the body not take action against the school or cancel their permission to run the ICSE curriculum… Should the school fail to furnish an answer or if the body is not convinced with the answer, action will be taken,” MHADA had stated in the notice. The school did not respond after repeated attempts to contact them.

Maharashtra Navanirman Sena (MNS) had come to the fore of residents by escalating the complaint to Education Minister Vinod Tawde. “Vinodji took cognisance of the complaint and assured to take quick action. MHADA rightly slapped a notice. But we followed up and found that the school has not replied to the notice even after as the week passed by,” said Nayan Kadam, MNS vice-president.

Established in 1995, Swami Vivekananda International School is affiliated to MSBSHSE. It introduced the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) curriculum in 2013-14 and have been expanding in a phased manner by natural progression each year since.

Residents and parents, however, claim that the school is planning to discontinue the SSC Board in a phased manner as well.
