Bhujbal followers stage protest for his release
Thousands of MLA Chhagan Bhujbal's supporters convened by Bhujbal Samanvai Samiti on Tuesday thronged the district collectors offices and tehsil offices throughout Maharashtra and at some places in India demanding the government to release him.
The former deputy CM and his nephew Sameer are incarcerated on charges of money laundering and Maharashtra Sadan construction cases. In Nashik the supporters were led by senior NCP office bearer Nanasaheb Mahale, NCP district chief Adv Ravindra Pagar, corporator Gajanan
Shelar, NCP mahila wing chief Prerna Balkwade and others. A memorndum was given to the collectors.
The memorandum stated that, Bhujbal was the messiah of lakhs of OBCs, dalits, adivasis and downtrodden persons in India. “He has been held without bail since the last 22 months and the people were saddened by his incarceration. He was the mayor of Mumbai, many times MLA, opposition leader and two times the deputy CM of Maharashtra and has supporters all over India.
The demonstrations were raucous, but peaceful and most all the agitators wore black clothes and caps with Bhujbal’s name printed on it. Bhujbal’s supporters in Satna city of MP too gave a memorandum to the Satna collector.
The memorandum stated that, the Supreme Court has observed Sec 45 of the Money Laundering Act to be unconstitutional as it dealt with personal liberty. “Then the accused under this section has the fundamental right to get bail.
