In its biggest raid ever, state excise dept seizes foreign liquor worth Rs 2 crores

The state excise department of Konkan division has been successful to seize the foreign liquor worth Rs 2 crores from Khar, Mumbai. The department claims this to be the biggest raid ever in the history of the excise department.

The excise department of Konkan division along with flying squad number 1 of Mumbai suburbs raided the places in Mumbai to get the huge stock of these foreign liquor bottles.

The excise police seized 175 boxes that contained 1800 bottles of various brands of alcohol. Some are even the rare brands,informed the police.

“We have seized the brands that costs from rs. 5000 to rs. 1,65,000 . The culprit here had got these brands without paying the excise duty and the consignmen­t traveled here by the train from Delhi. We are also looking out for the person from Delhi. There are many brands which are rare have been found in our raid." Said, Tanaji Salunkhe, divisional deputy Commission­er, State excise department, Konkan division.

The brands that found in the raids are black label, double black label, Dalmore, Macallan and many more.

The excise department had received an informatio­n regarding some people will be coming to sell the liquor at Khar and the excise police laid a trap at Khar Gymkhana. The person arrested is identified as Punjalal Patel and he had 20 bottles of Black Label Scotch. He then revealed that these bottles were given to him by another person Bipin Shah. When the excise police demanded more stock from him, he then took them to a shop in Andheri where he has his essence stick stock. The bottles they get from Delhi and a person named Ashok sends these by railway, confirmed Bipin Shah.
