Most A-listers give it a miss

- NARSI BENWAL & JESCILIA KARAYAMPARAMBIL

This year’s Mumbai Marathon lacked the regular sparkle as many A-listers skipped the marathon. However, regulars like Milind Soman, Mandira Bedi, Kunal Kapoor, Rahul Bose and others, did make their presence felt.

While Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis gave it a skip, Maharashtra Governor Vidyasagar Rao flagged off the marathon.

Yet another addition to this celeb list was Kajal Aggarwal. After finishing her marathon, she said, “It was quite a fun participating in the marathon. The crowd was very supportive. It is difficult to run. It is not like running in the treadmill. I am not a runner basically. This is record for me.”

After completion of the race, Bedi, while talking to reporters, said, “The 10 km race was introduced for the first time. I have been part of the marathon in the past.” For Bedi, running came to her life very late. “It was after my son that I started running. During my weight loss journey, I started running,” she added. While, Soman, a regular marathon runner, said, “I enjoyed the race. It was a pleasant experience. I am running to promote my cause Pinkathon.”

While Indiabulls Housing Finance, MD, Gagan Banga was seen running the full marathon, businessman Anil Ambani was not seen. Talking about Banga’s experience, he said, “My previous best was the Berlin Marathon in September. The Mumbai Marathon this year was a great experience.”

Present for the 15th edition of marathon was Tata group chairman, N Chandrasekaran and other executives of Tata group and its other entities. Names like LIC Chairman, V K Sharma; and Central Railway general manager, D K Sharma were also present.
