‘I HAVE BEEN APPRECIATED AT EVERY TURN’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is easily one of the most articulate prime ministers the country has had. In an exhaustive and exclusive interview to Times Now's Editor-in-Chief and Managing Editor, he has dwelt upon numerous issues which impinge on our dail

CONVERSATION WITH THE NATION: I believe that this nation is entitled to ask me questions. Answering them is my responsibility. But I am always tied up with work and you must have seen that I am a kind of person who keeps working all the time

NOT BOUND BY POLLS: I never make my timetable on the basis of the election timetable. My timetable depends on the task of working for the common man

NOT TRYING TO ISOLATE PAK: If you think India's foreign policy is based on Pakistan, then this is a grave injustice to India. Our foreign policy is issue based, it is not based around one nation and it shouldn't be. And if you think we are doing so much hard work around the world to isolate one nation, then that is wrong. This is not our work…

ON ATTEMPTS TO FIX HIM: The opposition has made several attempts to finish Narendra Modi (politically). I wish them all the best. The thing is, the path that they are on is what has helped me reach here…

ON JUDICIARY: Our country's judiciary has a very bright past, they are very capable people, the will sit together and find the solution to their problems. I have faith in our justice system, they will definitely figure out a solution…

ON GST: If GST succeeds, everyone is responsible and if it fails it is everyone's responsibility. If those who were sitting on the either side of Parliament earlier are now opposing GST and are foul mouthing it, then they are insulting the purity of Parliament

WHAT HE MEANS BY CONG-MUKT: It would be in the country's interest that Congress is also freed of the Congress culture. It's necessary for a healthy democracy. That's what I meant by Congress-free India

ULTIMATE GOAL: This is my personal belief that ease of doing business is very good but in a country like India the ultimate goal should be ease of living

NOTE BANDI A BIG SUCCESS: Demonetisation was a big success story, it's not just about one note going and another note coming. With that move, India's federal structure, Indian government's governance, RBI's role, all of this was in itself a move that made the world respect India even more

MY BIGGEST ASSET: The certificate given by my countrymen, is the biggest certificate, and my countrymen have given me their certificate. All steps taken by me and my government have been accepted and appreciated by Indians at every turn and that is my biggest asset

COMPARATIVE STUDY NEEDED: I would want that the country should get a comparative study done of the 10 years of UPA with our three and half or four years in office. It is only then that people will realise what has changed, says PM Narendra Modi

FIXED ELECTION: Elections must be at a specific time, so that all the mudslinging can be done at that time and then for the rest of the 5 years we can work

ON CREATING EMPLOYMENT: The rate of building rail tracks in a day has doubled. Wouldn't that be creating employment? Electrification is also double of what happened earlier. Wouldn't that be creating employment? The work on ports has gathered pace. Would that have increased without creating employment? How would all this have happened? Seven million new EPF accounts have been opened – doesn’t this show new employment?
