WR commuters will soon be able to check train ETA on mobiles

-

MUMBAI: Soon Western Railway (WR) passengers will able to check the expected time of arrival (ETA) of local trains on their mobile phones. A senior official said they are upgrading their mobile app DISHA, which will give real time details of suburban trains. It was introduced in 2016.

He added that they are also upgrading the Digital Interface of Stations for Help and Amenities (DISHA), which will be ready by the first week of February and will enable them to get timely updates.

Along with information about technical issues, if any, it will have additional new features. The schedule of the trains will be expected in three time slots - 30, 45 minutes and one hour. It means that if a commuter wants to travel in the next half-hour and checks the app, all trains expected in next 30 minutes will be displayed.

A senior official said they are also planning to introduce live tracking of trains. “Information about any disruptions, cancellations, special trains, blocks, minor and major delays will also be made available,” said Ravinder Bhakar, Chief PRO of WR.The app also provides details of catering facilities such as food plazas, water vending machines, water coolers at railway stations. “This will help in curbing incidents of overcharging by vendors,” added an official. The official added that details of ATMs, Emergency Medical Rooms (EMR), parking zones, nearest bus stops, and prepaid taxi booths will also be available.

The application is available on Google Playstore.
