Sena slams BMC for being unable to find suitable residence for Mayor
The ruling Shiv Sena slammed the civic administration for being unable to find a suitable residence for Mumbai Mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar. The Mayor’s Shivaji Park bungalow is to be converted into a memorial for Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray. Transferred Indian Administrative Officer (IAS) Pallavi Darade, who was then Additional Municipal Commissioner, is still occupying the Malabar Hill bungalow which the Sena wants it for the Mayor. Therefore, Sena is vehemently demanding Darade vacate the bungalow.
Vishakha Raut, enior Sena corporator, had earlier raised a point of order in the Improvements Committee meeting on which the civic administration replied. However, due to the answer not being satisfactory, the Sena slammed the BMC.
Chandrakant Chore, Deputy Municipal Commissioner, said that they have written a letter to the state government to vacate the bungalow which is being occupied by the then AMC Darade, currently posted to Food and Drugs Department of Maharashtra state. However, even after the official letter, the officer is not ready to vacate the bungalow. Meanwhile, the state government also replied to BMC stating that the civic body’s other AMCs are using the state government’s bungalow, therefore, Darade should be allowed to use the bungalow in return.
Raut rubbished the state government’s response. She stated that its sad that the first citizen of Mumbai has no suitable place to stay.
