MSRDC seeks agency to run trauma care centre
The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has called for expression of interest from charitable hospitals for maintenance of a trauma care centre at Maval in Pune.
The charitable hospital or an institute will be appointed to run the trauma care centre situated along the Mumbai-Pune Expressway.
The MSRDC has set February 15 as the last date of submission for the persons from the charitable hospitals to send their applications. The construction of the trauma care centre was completed in 2014.
“We had constructed the trauma care centre at an area called Ozarde near Talegoan as the expressway was prone to a number of accidents. Once a charitable hospital is appointed, it would supply staff and doctors to the trauma centre,” said sources from MSRDC.
The Mumbai-Pune Expressway is stretched at a distance of nearly 94 kilometers. At least 2000 accidents have occurred on the expressway between 2010 and 2017, in which more than 800 lives were lost.
The MSRDC had constructed the trauma centre to provide medical assistance to accident victims during the ‘golden hours.’ Currently, the trauma care centre has operation rooms, two helipads and also recovery rooms.
“Para-medical staff and administrative staff are required to run the trauma care centre. Once a charitable trust or an agency is appointed, we will be able to run the trauma care centre and make it operational,” added the official.
In October 2014, the MSRDC had called for Expression of Interest to operating the trauma centre.
