THANE HAS THE HIGHEST NO OF TRANSGENDER VOTERS IN MAHA
Thane district has been recorded as the highest registered voters of third genders in entire Maharashtra. The Thane collectorate informed on the National voters Day. 25th January of every year is celebrated as the National voters' day and this year it is the 8th year in the row. The programme to attract more voters to register their names was arranged in Thane at Gadkari Rangaytan and the favorite film stars of people participated in it and appealed voters to come forward to register themselves in the National duty and cast their vote.
Bollywood actress Karishma Kapoor and Bipasha Basu participated in the awareness programme arranged by the Thane Collector office and urged people to register their name in the voting list also they pledged along with voters to vote ,as it is the National duty. "Thane district has been recorded as the highest numbers of Third gender voters in Maharashtra and in the last year there has been 2,11,000 new voters registered in the record of District. We urge more new voters to come forward and register themselves and people to cast their vote whenever the elections are on." Appealed Dr. Mahendra Kalyankar, Collector, Thane
Thane district has 59,27,07 voters today. The army personnel has been registering themselves through Online system now and till date 2,186 people have registered their names online, added Dr. Kalyankar. This year for the very first time a new system identified as 'ERO Net' was used and Maharashtra is the second state to use such system. In this process while registering in the voter list, the required papers of the voters has been scanned and preserved. With this method ,there has been 43,696 voters registered in the district.
There was a felicitation of the voters who are born on 1st January 2000 and are registered voters ,also there was felicitation of disabled voters.
