Radiant Relations

WHAT: ‘Radiant Relations’ an exhibition of paintings by renowned artist Asit Kumar Patnaik. The inauguration ceremony, will be graced by Dimple Patel, supermodel and former Miss Globe International, on January 30 at 6:30 pm. Radiant Relations promises to be an exercise in negotiation. Patnaik now takes his famous relations series to a next level, moving beyond the stage where his men and women had been trying to figure each other out, in a constant and involved duel of animated stillness and tantalizing potentialities. He has lately invested a great deal of abandon in the figures, with liberal application of bolder and brighter hues, which particularly vie for our attention, only when considered in contradistinction with some very pensive and worn out strains of white. The painter is clearly only too aware of the various celebratory dimensions of male female relations and in some of his recent works this unsettling insight finds expression. However, he gamely abjures being judgemental, and limits himself firmly to advocating the sanity of some more self-reflexivity. The overall message seems to be that only a greater degree of introspection and selfrealization can yet redeem the strained human relationships.
