-

Shiv Sena minister Subhash Desai, who is under scanner in a probe into denotified of land owned by Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) at Nashik, lashed out at Jaykumar Rawal, minister for Tourism and Bharatiya Janata Party leader at a cabinet meeting on Tuesday. According to sources, Desai said Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis hadn’t spared him over land dealing whereas Rawal has been given a clean chit even after a farmer committed suicide outside the Mantralaya.

The probe report prepared by Dilip Pandharpatte, district collector of Dhule, was submitted to the state government through Summit Mullick, chief secretary (CS) on Tuesday.

Mullick has been given the task of submitting a factual report about compensation given to Dharma Patil, the farmer from Vikharan in Dhule district. The 84-yearold farmer committed suicide alleging low land compensation amount from the government. The scope of the one-man committee headed by CS included a probe into the role of Rawal in purchasing land that was included in acquisition for the power project.

Fadnavis, in his last cabinet meeting had instructed the CS to submit the report before next cabinet meet.

Sources claimed the the reason for desai losing his temper was the CS committee giving a clean chit to Rawal.

Desai blasted Rawal in the cabinet meeting. “When we got into problem over land dealings, you didn’t spare us. But CM gives you clean chit even if one person has committed suicide in your land case,” said Desai.

A one-man committee under retired bureaucrat KP Bakshi is inquiring into graft allegations against state industries minister Desai in the denitrification of Industrial land. The Congress ane NCP legislators had accused Desai of taking the decision deliberately to favour some developers during monsoon session in 2017. Desai had offered resignation which had been rejected by Fadnavis.
