Malabar Hill bungalow

BMC will soon take back

- STAFF REPORTER Currently occupied by former Additional Municipal Commissioner Pallavi Darade, the BMC chief assured all party leaders of discontinuing all civic amenities to her

The Civic Chief Ajoy Mehta in the Group Leaders meeting held on Thursday has ensured all party leaders that they will take back the Malabar Hill bungalow which is currently been occupied by former Additional Municipal Commissioner Pallavi Darade. Mehta said as per procedure all civic amenities which are given to the civic officer usually like free electricity, free water and security will be taken back.

Henceforth, bills will be issued on water and electricity usage and thereafter the bungalow will be taken back. Also, a meeting will be held with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to resolve the issue.

The assurance has come immediately after the state government General Administration Department(GAD) has sent a letter to the civic corporation stating not to issue henceforth any notices to Darade and also stated that it would be inappropriate to ask the state government official Darade to vacate the bungalow, when on other end one of the civic AMC is occupying the state government bungalow at the same time.

The ruling party of BMC the Shiv Sena is eyeing on the bungalow from long time and wants it for Mumbai Mayor's residence Vishwanath Mahadeswar. Therefore they are trying hard to get back the Bungalow and also putting pressure on BMC administration for same. While Mayor Mahadeswar himself showed his willingness for the Malabar Hill bungalow much earlier. While, he also rejected the Byculla Zoo bungalow provided by civic corporation stating that its not an ideal place for Mayor's residence because Mayor keeps hosting events which cannot be done in a silence zone.
