View ads for a month and get free Rs 50,000 life insurance

It is too good to be true, but it is true. Shriram Life Insurance and Cape Town-based SureBuddy have entered into a pact to provide life insurance worth up to Rs 50,000 for free. The facility will be available through an android application called ‘FREE Life Insurance powered by SureBuddy’ wherein the user will have to view about five minutes of advertising content over a month to be eligible for the cover.

Speaking with The Free Press Journal, Casparus Jacobus Hendrik Kromhout, Shriram Life Insurance MD and CEO, said, “There is no limitations. We can insure as many people as possible as this insurance will expose many to life insurance. It is a new initiative and we will see how it will work.”

The insurance company had run a pilot for a few weeks and was able to get more than 300 registrations already. Kromhout added, “The pilot was conducted in places like Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. We got 1,000 downloads out of that we have got more than 300 registrations.”

The company does not have any partnership in place with the governments or government organisation. But Kromhout said that they are open to partnerships with the government or public sector companies for the same if they show interest.

The insurance can be availed by the user till the time it views the adverts for five minutes every month. This is a sponsored life cover and its premium will be paid by SureBuddy to Shriram Life Insurance.
