Ayaz, Shailesh clinch doubles title

MUMBAI: Ayaz Bilawala and Shailesh Daga emerged champions in the Men’s doubles 45+ category scoring a convincing straight games victory over Bib hash Chatterjee and Yogesh Sangh vii nt he 25 th GD Birla Memorial Masters Inter-Club Badminton Tournament, organised by Badminton 45 and Evolution Sports at the Bombay Gymkhana courts. Bilawala also kept himself in line for a double, when in partnership with Mayur Ta wade, they edged out Ajit Nair and PM Balkrishna 21-15, 21-15 in the Men's Doubles 100+ category. In the final they will take on Leroy D'Sa and Sushant Nodi, who beat Naval Kumar and Shailesh Daga in a tough three-game match, winning 2224, 21-14, 21-17. Bombay Gymkhana ‘A’ beat CCI ‘A’ 2-0 in the first of the elite team championship semi-finals. In the other semi-final, MIG overcame stiff challenge from Andheri sports complex to emerge as 2-1 winners. In the plate team championship category, MCF will clash with Nerul Sports Club in the final, after both teams emerged victorious, beating NSCI & Insat Sporting Club respectively.
