After 10 years, land survey of Uttan village will commence soon

BHAYANDAR: After remaining on the back-burner for more than ten years, the mandated City Survey work to tag properties in five revenue villages including- Uttan, Chowk, Pali, Dongri and Tarodi with much needed CTS numbers is all set to resume soon. It should be noted that following a notification passed by the state government in 2006, it was mandated for all civic bodies across the state to carry out a survey of all villages and tag properties with CTS numbers. Subsequently the erstwhile general body house passed a resolution in compliance of the government directives to carry out a detailed survey of all nineteen revenue villages in the jurisdiction of the Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation. However thanks to stiff resistance posed by locals apparently owing to gross misunderstandings, the survey work of these five coastal villages had failed to take off. Moreover the region was notified as Recreation & Tourism SEZ leading to more complications, compounded by fears amongst villagers of losing their ancestral property for tourist ventures. This despite of the fact that due to the absence of CTS number and property cards, villagers are not only deprived of official permissions to repair or reconstruct their ancestral homes, but a section of illiterate locals especially those from tribal dominated areas have become vulnerable targets of land sharks.
