Goa CM Parrikar admitted to Lilavati yet again, illness continues to be shrouded in mystery

-

The Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has once again been brought to Lilavati Hospital for treatment of an illness which is shrouded in mystery. According to sources in the Goa government, Parrikar will be leaving for further treatment to United States of America tonight for seven weeks. Before leaving for Mumbai, Parrikar held a series of meetings on Monday and delegated responsibilities to the concerned authorities.

As per sourced information, Parrikar met the chief secretary of Goa and has given him a mandate of clearing any project upto Rs 5 crores. “Any project above Rs 5 crores will go through the scrutiny of a committee comprising of Sadhin Gavlikar, Veejay Sardesai, both of alliance parties and only senior-most Bharatiya Janata Party leader in this committee is Francis D’Souza,” said the official.

The information that has been doing the rounds in Goa’s political circles is that Parrikar has reportedly been suffering from pancreatic cancer. His chemo was been lined up for Monday or Tuesday morning and then he will fly out for treatment to US, which will be nearly seven weeks.

Previously, Parrikar was admitted on February 15 to Lilavati hospital, where he is reported to have undergone two chemo therapies. At that time, the Goa BJP delegated responsibilities to legislators as the Assembly session was to begin.

Meanwhile, PM Narendra Modi was in Mumbai on February 18 and went to Lilavati hospital to pay a visit to the ailing minister. On February 22, Parrikar rushed to Goa, went straight to the Assembly and gave his speech. Thereafter, he was rushed to Goa Medical Hospital on February 24, as he complained of pain and dehydration. He was discharged on March 3, thereafter held a series of meetings in the last two days and has been brought back to Mumbai.

Since the first time the Lilavati Hospital officials blamed media for spreading rumours and since then nobody has come clean to explain the exact ailment of the former defence minister, who is an elected representative from Goa.

The questions Free Press Journal has, what exactly is the illness, Parrikar is suffering from? If it is Pancreatic cancer, why is there no clarity? How many chemo therapies and what exactly is the nature of treatment that Parrikar will undergo in the US?

V Ravishankar, Chief Executive Officer of Lilavati Hospital has again refused to give details on what ‘routine check-up’ Parrikar will be undergoing.

“He would undergo the required examinations and our doctors would keep a check on him. But only after getting all the reports, we would be able to comment on his health condition,” said Ravishankar. While Ravishankar refused to give any details about the time of Parrikar's admission or duration of his stay, sources from the hospital confirmed that at around 4.30 pm in the evening, Parrikar's security personnel scanned the hospital as a safety protocol and by 6 pm he was admitted in the hospital for treatment. Earlier in the day, Parrikar’s office had tweeted: "Hon’ble Chief Minister @manoharparrikar will be travelling to Mumbai today for further medical check-up and based on doctor’s advice may travel overseas for further treatment." Due to pancreas problem, he was earlier admitted at Lilavati Hospital on February 15 after complaining of abdominal pain. After this, the Chief Minister was discharged from hospital on 22nd February. He was discharged on February 22, and on the same day attended a session of the Goa Legislative Assembly, where he presented the budget and made a brief speech.
