Bizman held on Zeenat’s rape charge
A Mumbaibased businessman was arrested on Thursday night after a yesteryear actress, Zeenat Aman, lodged a First Information Report against the accused for rape, cheating and forgery. This is the second FIR filed against the accused by the actress.
The accused, Sarfaraz Mohammed alias Aman Khanna (38), has been arrested. He was picked up on Thursday night from Versova and has been remanded to police custody till March 28.
Deepak Devraj, Deputy Commissioner of Police and Mumbai Police spokesperson, said, "The complaint was lodged by the 65-yearold actress on Thursday at Juhu police station. The matter has been transferred to the Crime Branch."
As per the complaint, between 2011 and 2015, the accused had taken cash and gold jewellery worth Rs 15.40 crore from Zeenat for business purposes and despite repeated pleas refused to return it. Khanna promised to give her four flats in the Maharashtra Housing Area Development Authority but did not keep his word.
On January 30, the actress had lodged a complaint of stalking and harassment against the accused.
According to a Crime Branch official, "Khanna had prepared a forged 'nikaahnama' (certificate of marriage as per Mohammedan laws) document in her name and threatened and raped her.
He has been booked and arrested for rape (Section 376), cheating (Section 420), criminal breach of trust (Section 406), forgery (Section 465 and 467), forgery for purpose of cheating (Section 468), forgery for the purpose of harming reputation (Section 469), using a forged document as genuine (Section 471) and criminal intimidation (Section 506).
