Gambhir leads charge to roast Afridi on Kashmir
Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi was roasted on social media over a tweet on Kashmir, wherein he stated there is an "appalling and worrisome situation" in the state and called for UN intervention.
He tweeted: ‘‘Appalling and worrisome situation in Indian Occupied Kashmir. Innocents are being shot down by an oppressive regime to clamp down on voice of selfdetermination & independence. Wonder where is the UN & other international bodies & why aren't they making efforts to stop this bloodshed?’’
The tweet came on a day the US took action against a Pakistani outfit controlled by 26/11 mastermind Hafiz Saeed, who roams freely in Pakistan. Shahid Afridi was immediately battered in tweets within the cricket fraternity and outside. Leading the charge was fellow cricketer Gautam Gambhir.
Gambhir ridiculed Afridi by saying that the ex-Pakistani all-rounder is a perennially immature person. He further wrote that Afridi was "celebrating a dismissal off a no- ball!!!" "Media called me for reaction on S Afridi’s official tweet on OUR Kashmir. What’s there to say? Afridi is only looking at UN which in his retarded dictionary means “UNDER NINTEEN,” and that is not surprising given his age bracket. Media can relax, Afridi is celebrating a dismissal off a no- ball!!!
In 2016, Afridi had sparked controversy before the start of World T20 in Mohali. Asked by former Pakistan cricket captain and commentator Rameez Raja if he and his team had got support from the crowds in Mohali, Afridi responded by saying, "a lot of people are here for Kashmir". Gambhir and Afridi have a history of on-field run-ins when they were representing their respective countries. It is not the first time that Gambhir has questioned Afridi's maturity.
