John Abraham’s production firm accused of cheating

- STAFF REPORTER

A complaint has been filed by Prerna Arora’s production house KriArj Entertainment against John Abraham’s production house JA Entertainment at the Khar police on Wednesday. The complaint stated that JA Entertainment had terminated contract with them signed for the movie Parmanu inspite of making the payment of Rs 30 crore.

On March 31, John Abraham’s JA Entertainment had terminated its contract with co-producers KriArj Entertainment and their partners Zee Studios. KriArj, in a press statement, called the trade notice sent by JA Entertainment “illegal and invalid”.

As per the written complaint by KriArj Entertainment, “JA Entertainment wants to defraud us. Inspite of payment of almost 30 crore and KriArj being fully and naturally willing to promote and release the film at the earliest, they stopped the promotions and now want to walk away with the film, without any remorse in such an unethical fashion which is there for all to see.”

It further stated that a First Information Report should be registered for committing various criminal offences including cheating, breach of trust, fraud, misappropriation of funds and copyright infringement. Abraham and his company duped KriArj Entertainment of crores of rupees invested by KriArj Entertainment towards the production of the film ‘Parmanu’.”

As per an earlier statement issued by JA Entertainment, “The delay in payments / non-payments, have caused delays in the post production work after the film’s principal shoot was completed by us in time and on schedule last year. Despite repeated follow up, the distribution plan for the film has not been shared and there has been no transparency in their dealings with third parties. We have till date not been privy to any signed contracts of third parties with KriArj, if any. JA Entertainment has time and again discussed the marketing campaign for the film with KriArj but the release dates have been pushed at least three times, due to delayed payments. Not only that, KriArj without our approval has gone out and made statements giving false reasons for the delay. Our repeated follow-ups have only been met with false promises to settle the issue, thus wasting crucial time on the project. The industry knows of the track record of KriArj. There has been a similar incident in the past with another film where they have done the same thing. In the best interest of the film, we have terminated our contract with KriArj Entertainment.”

’Parmanu’, starring John Abraham and Diana Penty is slated to release on May 4.
