New office-bearers for the year 2018-19 at CII
The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) announced new office-bearers for the year 2018-19. Rakesh Bharti Mittal, Vice Chairman, Bharti Enterprises has assumed office as the new President of CII. He takes over from Shobana Kamineni, Executive Vice Chairperson, Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd. Bharti Enterprises is one of India’s leading business groups with interests in telecom, agri & food business, financial services, retail, realty, and communication and media devices. Mittal is also Chairman of Bharti AXA Life Insurance, Bharti AXA General Insurance, Field Fresh Foods and Centum Learning. He is also on the Board of Bharti Airtel and is Managing Director-Bharti Realty Holdings. Mittal was associated with CII for more than two decades.
Uday Kotak, Founder and CEO of Kotak Mahindra Bank (Kotak Bank), takes over as President Designate of CII for 2018-19. Kotak Mahindra Bank became the first NBFC in India to get a banking license, and the Kotak Group’s vision for equitable prosperity extends beyond banking and financial services. The Kotak Education Foundation works with some of India’s most economically depressed communities, attempting to alleviate poverty in a sustainable way through education and livelihood programmes. Kotak holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce and an MBA from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai. Kotak has several awards to his credit including ET’s Business Leader of the Year award.
Vikram Kirloskar takes over as CII Vice President for 2018-19. Kirloskar is the Chairman and Managing Director of Kirloskar Systems Ltd. and Vice Chairman of Toyota Kirloskar Motor. Kirloskar has recently stepped down as Chairman, CII Southern Region during 2017-18 after completing his term. He has been President of SIAM during 2013-15. Kirloskar has been associated with CII for many years and has been Chairman of Global Innovation and Technology Alliance (GITA) Board from its inception in 201213. He has chaired several National Committees and Councils of CII in the areas of Manufacturing, R&D, Design, Innovation, Technology and CSR.
