Diggi returns to Twitter with BJP tirade

-

Six days after after completing "Narmada parikrama" to go around the holy river taking 6-month leave from politics, Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh returned to Twitter with a bang on Saturday.

Unlike his reputation of creating controversies, he, however, confined himself to pay homage to Babasaheb Ambedkar on his birth anniversary with a series of tweets.

"Social and economic equality along with legal equality are the true goals of the Indian Constitution and it is the real tribute to Baba Saheb," he tweeted.

In another tweet, he said Dalits, Adivasis and backwards were accorded legal rights in 1950 through the Indian Constitution drafted by Ambedkar. It has laid foundation of their enlightenment and empowerment in the last 68 years to enable them to fulfill dreams of Baba Saheb.

Noting that the basic principle of the Indian Constitution are liberty, equality and fraternity, he tweeted: "Without equality, liberty would produce the supremacy of the few over the many. Equality without liberty would kill individual initiative. Without fraternity, liberty would produce the supremacy of the few over the many."

Digvijay Singh said if equality in social and economic life is denied for long, "we will do so only by putting our political democracy in peril."
