Regular pass-holder won’t be allowed to travel in long-distance trains: WR

- SWAPNIL MISHRA /

The western railway has taken a new initiative to provide safety to commuters travelling in express trains by issuing a circular stating the seasonal pass holder passenger cannot board the express trains between Virar to Dahanu.

This new move comes after the railway authorities received several complaints regarding daily pass holder passenger boarding into the longdistance train (Kutch Express) between Virar and Dahanu and trouble the regular passengers over seat who have already booked their seats in a sleeper coach.

“Last time we had received a complaint from a passenger who regularly travels in Kutch Express that there was a fight between seasonal pass holder and regular passenger over the seat which later led delaying in trains. To end up this chaos, the railway authorities have come up with this move,” said Aarti Parihar, DCM, WR.

A senior railway official said they have asked all the ticket counter at the railway stations to stamp ‘Not Permitted To Travel In Reserved Sleeper Coaches’ when they are issuing monthly, quarterly, half and yearly seasonal tickets.

“The circular has been dispatched to all the ticket counters of western and central railway stations. In case if any passengers are found to be travelling in reserved sleeper coach without a stamp on their pass they will be fined immediately,” added an official.
