Maharashtra industries minister Subhash Desai however announced revoke of notification of land acquisition, there was no such proposal before industry department or with the minister of de-notification. Senior official from industries department said it is very difficult and time consuming to revoke it. Desai had no official order in his hand while making an announcement. Desai claimed the order will be issued on Tuesday within 24 hours, however, officer claimed it is highly impossible. He also claimed chief minister was also misguided as no such proposal goes to High Power Committee (HPC).

Desai in his speech at Nanar said he has revoked notification of Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) issued on May 18, 2017 to acquire land for refinery project at Nanar. The official said, only minister has power to denotify the land which has been acquired and has right to revoke the notification of land acquisition. “There is long process to revoke the notification.

There is a long process to revoke the notification. First the district collector has to send proposal to MIDC stating why there is need of land acquisition in case where people are opposing the project or the project is not feasible

First the district collector has to send proposal to MIDC stating why there is need of land acquisition in case where people are opposing the project or the project is not feasible,” said the official.

He added, MIDC again scrutinises the proposal sent by the collector. Then it is forwarded to industries secretary and only then it comes to the industries minister after it is scrutinised by the secretary. “The proposal never goes to HPC or to chief minister for review or for final decision. Only minister for industries has power to revoke the notification,” said the official.

He further said, “However, it takes time. It is not a job of a day or 24 hours as Desai said at Nanar.” The official claimed chief minister had no idea of the procedure and hence he told Desai has no power and HPC will take decision.

The official recalled Desai used his power to denotify land acquired for MIDC for which he had faced probe by Bakshi committee. “In that case, Desai himself took decision to denotify lands and caught in trouble by opposition party leaders,” he said.
