CR income from film shoots up by 36 pc

The Central Railways’ income through film shooting has increased by 36 percent in last financial year in comparison with 2016-17. CR earned more than Rs one crore from film shooting. However, the number of film shooting for earning has remained 15 as it was in 2016-17. Addressing a press conference at Central Railway (CR) headquarte­rs, CR chief public relations officer Sunil Udasi said that the earning has been increased by 36 percent in last year. Rs 1,00,87,960 have been earned by 15 film shootings. The highest revenue was generated from Wadi bunder yard.

A senior railway official said these earning includes film, advertisin­g and web series. CR has earned Rs 7,393,720 while earning a total of 10,087,960 in 2017-18 (over one million) 2016-17. “The CR has earned 15 lakhs from the movie ‘Street Boys’ which was shot on Wadi Bunder yard of the central railway,” said Sunil Udasi, CPRO, CR.

A total 15 shootings have been done at CR’s railway’s line. Of these, 12 feature films are including two Marathi films, one Bengali film and one documentar­y for a series of discovery channel among others.

The earlier, the producers will have to make an applicatio­n to Public Relation Office (PRO) and Division for the permission of his/her film. Since the single window clearance for film shooting had been set up, the producers will only have to make an applicatio­n before the PRO who will take other permission­s from the division.

“We are getting a good response through single window system from the producers. The permission will be given for the film shooting without rolling stock within three days and with rolling stock in 14 days at present, earlier it used to take three weeks time,” said A K Singh, Senior PRO, CR.
