Uddhav seeks shifting of Nanar project to Vidarbha

-

Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday called for shifting the prosposed oil refinery project in Maharashtra’s Ratnagiri disrict to Vidarbha, asserting that the investment starved region is in dire need of employment.

Thackeray was speaking to mediapersons at his residence 'Matoshree', after BJP MLA Ashish Deshmukh met him to discuss the proposed project.

“Ashish Deshmukh has given me a well studied proposal. I feel proud of him. It is now clear that Nanar project will not happen at any cost. A picture was being portrayed that this project will be shifted to Gujarat. Instead of Konkan, there are other places in Maharashtra where this project can be shifted,” Thackeray said. The Sena chief further said in past, there were no attempts made to develop Vidarbha region and that since the project will generate an employment of around 1 lakh, Vidarbha region is in dire need of it. “The CM has assured that the project will not be forced upon people if they do not wish so,” Thackeray said.

“Holding a hollow session in Vidarbha will do no good. Many good decisions can be taken while sitting in Mumbai as well, like the one taken for land of farmers in Vidarbha. We will support the CM to conduct the session in Nagpur, if he is willing to announce that the refinery project will be shifted to Vidarbha,” Thackeray added.
