Mid-air scare for Team Rahul
Congress president Rahul Gandhi and four passengers on a chartered flight from Delhi to Karnataka had a major scare after the aircraft reportedly developed "multiple faults", triggering a complaint and eliciting charges of "intentional tampering" of the aircraft, reports NDTV. The complaint was filed by Kaushal Vidyarthee, a key member of Rahul Gandhi's team who was accompanying the Congress president. The pilots were able to land the plane at Hubli airport but according to the complaint, only after two aborted attempts. Gandhi's team member said the "suspicious and faulty performance" of the aircraft was due to technical snags. "However, serious questions related to intentional tampering of the aircraft cannot be brushed aside and are required to be addressed and investigated," Vidyarthee said.
Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Thursday described the proposed US visa rules as a ‘huge setback’ for India, and in a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi said there were ‘some things a hug can buy’, but for visas ‘you’re on your own’.
Gandhi’s remarks come amid Trump administration’s plan to propose ending work permits for the spouses of H1-B visa holders to work in the US, a move that could have a devastating impact on tens of thousands of Indians.
“New US Visa Rules, huge setback for India...,” the Congress president tweeted.
“Foreign Policy by Narendra Modi, Foreword by Donald Trump,” Gandhi said mocking the government's diplomacy.
