Depressed JJ intern tries to kill himself, in serious state
A 29-year-old male MBBS intern with the state-run JJ hospital, who was receiving psychiatric treatment for depression, attempted suicide by jumping off from the third-floor of RM Bhatt hostel, where he was staying at. The intern, Dr Triratn Wathore, suffered severe head injuries and leg fractures and is admitted to the hospital’s critical care unit. Doctors attending on him said his condition was ‘critical’.
The JJ Marg police is probing the incident. The exact cause behind the intern’s desperate action is yet to be established. Hospital authorities said the intern had attempted suicide in the past too. A source claimed the intern had allegedly received treatment for drug de-addiction. The Medical Superintendent of JJ hospital, Dr Sanjay Surase, said, “He was in unconscious condition when his friend admitted to hospital and had grievous head injury due to fall from the third floor of R M Bhatt hostel.” He further added Wathore was operated by Neurosurgeon and was shifted to Critical Care Unit (CCU) he is on ventilator and its condition is not good.
“According to his past health history Wathore was on depression and psychiatrist treatment and also had past history of suicidal attempt,” added doctor.
Wathore has sustained with Extradural haemorrhage that is when bleeding occurs between the tough outer membrane covering the brain and the skull. Often there is loss of consciousness following a head injury. He has also Subdural haemorrhage is a type of haemorrhage usually associated with traumatic brain injury. A hospital sources claimed, “He had been admitted many times to psychiatry for cannabis psychosis. He is from 2008 batch and recently completely his internship.” However J.J Marg police station did not registered any kind of complaints and the reason behind his suicide attempt is unknown stated a officer of the police station.
