The Vice President Shri M Venkaiah Naidu has shown great virtue and gumption by throwing aside the impeachment notice hurled at him by the assortment 7 parties headed by the Congress. What next? Now will the Congress move for the impeachment of the Vice President or the President or for that matter the Prime Minister? Meanwhile, Rahul has embarked upon the Save the Constitution campaign. He has said that all the democratic institutions in the country were occupied by RSS ideologues and debate or discussions was being subverted. Rahul has also said that the Congress gave India its Constitution and protected it. The people of theBJP and RSS will not be able to touch the constitution. So Rahul considers that he and the Congress are the only custodians of the Constitution. Here I would like to enumerate certain facts

pertinent to the topic. Indira Gandhi brought about the 42nd amendment to the constitution during the emergency and it was regarded as the most controversial constitutional amendment in Indian history. It was aimed at curtailing the powers of the judiciary and muzzling the fourth estate. It was also tyrannical in nature and made to suit the whims and wishes of Indira Gandhi. This constitution was called a "mini constitution" or the "constitution of Indira". So, Rahul Gandhi is simply following the footsteps of Indira Gandhi.
