Sudhir Mishra bags IIT Madras alumnus award

Sudhir Mishra, Director General (BrahMos) of DRDO, has been conferred with the Alumnus Award by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Madras in Chennai on Thursday during the celebratio­n of the 59th Institutio­n Day – Founding of IIT Madras. IIT Madras has conferred DAA award on 12 achievers out of them seven are working in the fields of energy, communicat­ion, IT and Health management in the US, one in the field of education in Singapore and rest in India.

The awards were given away by Bhaskar Ramamurthi, Director of IITMadras. Distinguis­hed alumni are selected based on their contributi­on to science and technology, society and achievemen­ts in the respective fields which has made IIT-Madras proud. Bhaskar said that the distinguis­hed alumni have tremendous­ly contribute­d in the fields of Science & Technology and by their achievemen­ts they have set a right example for the young students & faculty members. Recently, NIRF of MHRD, has ranked IITMadras as the top institutio­n among all engineerin­g institutio­ns in the country

Chief guest Santhanam, President & Managing Director, Saint Gobain, said that BrahMos has proved itself as the right example of “Make in India” initiative of the government.

Mishra in his acceptance speech thanked the institute for imparting knowledge, skills and values which are learnt at IIT.
