Coma patient at Jogeshwari hospital bitten by rodent

In yet another instance, a 27 year-old patient who is been admitted in the general ward of the Jogeshwari Trauma centre over a month has developed an ulcer in his right eye after being bitten by a rat on Tuesday morning. However, the hospital authority has denied the allegation­s made by his family.

Parvinder Gupta, who met with a road accident injuring his right side of the brain. He had completely recovered over a month an ago but suddenly he complaint about numbness in his right hand and also developed swollen in his brain and was admitted to private hospital in Thane for treatment.

“Due to excessive bill amount we shifted him to the Jogeshwari Trauma centre and was admitted to general ward of the centre,” said one of his relatives.

Parvinder’s father said there are many rats in the hospital, few days back one of my relative had shooed of the rat from his son’s head. “On Tuesday morning when I got up I saw Parvinder was bleeding from his right eyes. Later we got to know that he has been bitten by a rat due to which he was been shifted to the Intensive Care Unit immediatel­y for the treatment,” said Rampalat Gupta, father

He added that the hospital authority refuted the claim and refused to register any complaint against them. They also misbehave with our relatives and are not allowing to see my son.

“There is a group of doctors who are working together just to bring shame to our hospital. They are also conspiring together and inspiring the family is making a false allegation­s against hospital," said Dr H Bhava, medical superinten­dent of the hospital. A senior doctor said he is in coma and his eyes remain half-opened so makes it easier for the rats to bite. “It is not the first time when his relatives saw rats on his head. But as his eyes remain half opened always, it is easy for the rats to bite," said the doctor.
