Habitations without power not census villages: Govt

-

The Government on Tuesday clarified that most of the villages reported in the media as not having electricity are actually habitations, hamlets, dhanis, majras and tolas and not the census villages.

Reaffirming that it has reached electricity to all villages as identified in the 2011 census under the Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana, it said the habitations not yet having the electricity will get it under “Saubhagya” scheme as part of the Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana for providing the last mile connectivity and service connections in all remaining households in both rural and urban areas.

The power ministry sources said special teams were rushed to the areas reportedly not having electricity in all three states of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Jharkhand to ascertain the factual position as under: MADHYA PRADESH: Three villages of Jhandana, Amba and Chameli in Alirajpur district are situated in the submerged area of Sardar Sarovar Dam. The villagers were shifted to Kakrana village which is electrified but some villagers had shifted to another nearby locality which is not yet electrified.

In Raisen district, Khananpura village is already electrified and the electrification of the associated Tola is under progress while other five villages of Jaitgarh, Bili, Pond, Rambarha and Gopalpur are forest villages which have been electrified with solar power. RAJASTHAN: All inhabited revenue and census villages in Dholpur district have been electrified and the names of villages mentioned in the news articles as not having electricity are actually Dhanis. Intensive electrification of Golekapura and Shankar Pura Dhanis has been completed and work is in progress in remaining Dhanis of Ghuraiya Hera, Hathiyakhar, KehrikaNagla, Haripura and Thakur Pura. As regards Rajghat village, it is covered under the municipal area of Dholpur and as such the households are having access to electricity unless disconnected. JHARKHAND: Saprum village reported in the media is an electrified village, but power is disrupted since long. Action has been ordered to ensure power reaches the village soon.
