Another officer likely to challenge appointment

-

After appointment of DK Jain as chief secretary of the state, reactions are reflected among senior officers from Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Indian Police Service (IPS). Several bureaucrats are not happy with the decision to supersede senior officials and promote junior one. One of claimants Sudhir Shrivastava who is serving as additional Chief Secretary (ACS - Home) went on long leave since Friday.

The decision to promote Jain as CS was taken in December last year. It was mutually decided that Sumit Mullick will apply for voluntary retirement and will be rehabilitate him as chief information officer. However, after Bhima-Koregaon caste riot incident, his retirement was postponed.

Senior bureaucrat claimed, despite reactions reflected among senior bureaucrats and tried to convince chief minister Devendra Fadnavis for not to supersede, he remained firm on name of Jain.

State government may be in fear that anyone from seniority list may get sufficient time to challenge appointment of Jain if his order Will be issue on Friday. Hence, instead of working day, the order was issued on Monday, on government holiday.

Meanwhile, as it was crystal clear that Jain will next CS, ACS (Home) went on long leave since Friday. His flat at ... building is locked and he has switched off his cell phone. According to source, another senior bureaucrats among four is planning to challenge the decision of state at Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT). The officer is expected to announce the strategy on Wednesday.
